Swinford Annual Spring Clean 2019

Volunteers at the annual Swinford tidy towns national spring clean 2019

As part of the Swinford 250 celebrations, Swinford Tidy Towns held another hugely successful Swinford annual spring clean 2019 this Good Friday. Huge thanks to everyone who came out to help today, we really appreciate all your help. Without you, our participation in the National Spring Clean would not be possible. The spring clean was made much easier this year, thanks to the huge amount of work put in by our local Tús crew in recent months around town.

In all 26 bags were collected for disposal and recycling. The most unusual item picked up today was a roasting tin! Thanks to Austin Meehan from Mayo Co Co Swinford office for collecting all the bags for us on the day. Thanks to Swinford 250 for the use of their office for the day. Thanks also to the Gateway Hotel for the fabulous refreshments afterwards, the gang were well fit for them!

The Annual National Spring Clean campaign, Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative, has been taking place nationwide throughout the month of April. Every year more than half a million people come together in community groups to organise clean ups to improve their local community and environment. The National Spring Clean is Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative organised by An Taisce and is funded by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
