The One Million Trees In One Day project is now back on track again. Three of the main sponsors pulled out of the project at the last-minute, early last year which put the whole project in jeopardy. Thankfully the team stuck with it and secured more funding and got the project back on track again for this year.

Swinford Tidy Towns applied to the One Million Trees In One Day project in November 2012. We identified various locations around Swinford that would be suitable for planting trees, but unfortunately we will not be able to complete all of these area’s this year. The amount and species of trees we have received for planting, will decide where is most suitable to plant them.

Swinford Tidy Towns will be starting the planting of the One Million Trees In One Day project this Saturday. We are looking for volunteers with spades for a few hours for planting the trees. If you would like to help out, we will be meeting up at 10 AM beside the ESB power station on Dublin road. If you can bring a spade that would be great. Hi-Viz jackets will be supplied.

best time to plant a tree is now
