Swinford flood risk public consultation day 24th June
JBA Consultants working on behalf of the Office of Public Works have produced plans for managing the flood risk in Swinford. They will be holding a public consultation day in Swinford Cultural Centre on Wednesday the 24th of June from 3pm to 8pm. They will have maps of the flood risk areas in Swinford town and surrounding areas. All members of the public are invited to attend to view the maps and the preliminary options for managing the flood risk areas.
JBA has been commissioned by The Office of Public Works (OPW) to undertake a project as part of the National Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) Programme of Studies. Our work involves understanding communities affected by flooding across the Western River Basin District, which includes most of County Galway, County Mayo, County Sligo and some of County Leitrim. This is the Western Catchment Flood Risk Assessment & Management (Western CFRAM) Study.
The community are asked to participate in the public consultation. The maps produced are based on best available survey and hydrological information and have been reviewed through site visits and discussion with Local Authority Area Engineers and OPW Regional staff. However, the best people to give feedback on the maps are those who live and work near the rivers.
If you were unable to attend the Public Consultation Day, it is still possible to provide feedback on the maps. Any comments you have on the maps will be accepted from now until the end of the national consultation period. If you have been flooded in the past you can complete and return this questionnaire. You can submit any comments and completed questionnaires to western-cfram@jbaconsulting.com or post the questionaire to;
