National Spring Clean 21

Swinford Tidy Towns held another hugely successful Good Friday National Spring Clean 21. In very strange and challenging circumstances, this year was by far one of our largest and most successful Spring Cleans ever! Over 70 volunteers came out on the day and collected over 120 bags of rubbish for recycling and disposal. Although we could not gather in groups, we had family pods and family bubbles taking part. Eash pod and bubble did their clean up in their own locality as well as around the town. We had pods taking part in Killasser, Meelick, Midfield and Culmore to name just a few! Huge thanks to everyone who took part this year, especially all the U-14 & U-16 Swinford/Killasser Ladies football teams. Thanks also to the Gateway Hotel for the use of their car park and for all the staff for taking part too. It was noted by many, that there was a huge reduction in cigarette butts along the street kerbs. However, there seemed to be a marked increase on the amount of litter thrown from cars along the roadside. We would ask EVERYONE to please take your rubbish home with you and dispose of it correctly. Now that the days are getting brighter, we will get our weekly clean up going again if people are interested in helping out. Maybe Saturday or Sunday mornings. Please contact any committee member or any of our social media channels. Thanks again to everyone who took part, pride in our town.
