Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection In Swinford

Mayo County Council are providing a free Household Hazardous Waste Collection in Swinford in December. The Household Hazardous waste collection point will be located at the PND business Park, Ballina road Swinford on Saturday the 12th of December 2015. The collection point will be open from 10am to 2pm on the day.

This will be a great opportunity to clear out those cupboards of all those old medicines and dispose of them in a safe manner. Its also a great way to get rid of all those paint tins with a bit of paint in them, safely.

The following items of household Hazardous Waste will be accepted:

  • Paint, paint cans and related materials,
  • Ink Cartridges,
  • Veterinary Medicines (No Sharps),
  • Glues &Adhesives,
  • Pesticides, Herbicides and Insecticides,
  • Aerosol cans,
  • Household acids and bases, Detergents,
  • Waste Oil disposal and Oil Filters,
  • Waste Cooking Oil,
  • Old Medicines (No Sharps) and Cosmetics.

household hazardous waste collection swinford 2015This service is provided free of charge to the domestic sector for household hazardous waste collection. Only items listed above will be accepted. No unlabellled items will be accepted.

The Household Hazardous Wastes collection service is limited to volume restrictions. Household hazardous waste is accepted at both of Mayo County Councils recycling centre’s located at Derrinumera and Rathroeen all the year.
