Free Weee Electrical Collection Swinford in September 2015
The annual free weee electrical collection Swinford will be in Tesco car park on Saturday 26th September. The collection will be open from 10 am until 4 pm. Last year there was 18 & 1/2 tonnes of electrical waste collected at the Swinford collection point.
WEEE Ireland organises and promotes public collection events of WEEE and waste batteries in areas which don’t have convenient access to civic amenity sites. Any household item with a plug or battery will be accepted at these collection events – from large items such as fridges, dishwashers and tumble-dryers, to small household items such as remote controls, electric toothbrushes and everything in between. All waste batteries will be accepted free of charge, including AA and AAA batteries, torch batteries, watch batteries, car batteries and electric fence batteries.
These days are promoted through local schools, local press and radio and again it’s free for the general public to bring any batteries or household item with a plug or a battery for recycling. They’re a great chance for you to finally clean out the garage or attic.
There will also be collection points in Charlestown at O’Hora Park GAA grounds. There will be a collection point in Ballina at the Humbert street car park. Both these collection points will also be open on Saturday 26th September between 10 am and 4 pm.

- All types of batteries including farm fencing and automotive batteries.
- Torches, Power tools and other Small Electrical Devices.
- Fridges, Freezers, Washing Machines and Electric Ovens.
- PCs, TVs, Monitors.
- Energy Saving Lamps and other Lighting Equipment.
- Along with any other household WEEE you may have.
All large electrical items including washing machines, fridges, freezers etc can all be recycled for free. Basically anything with a plug or battery.
