Mayo County Council Encourages Householders to Attend Free Talks on Meal Planning.
Mayo County Council is hosting two talks on meal planning by Sian Breslin, Home Economist and founder of Sian’s Plan. The talks will take place in Castlebar and Belmullet on Thursday the February 5th and will offer a variety of tips on planning meals for the family including ideas for preparing healthy meals.
The first of the talks will take the form of a coffee morning in Àras Inis Gluaire, Belmullet from 9.45am and parents are encouraged to avail of the talk after doing the school run. The second talk will take place as a coffee evening in Lough Lannagh Village, Castlebar at 7.30pm and again is open to the general public.
Sian Breslin is a professional home-economist and busy mum of 3 grown boys. The talks will be of benefit to anyone running a home and cooking for themselves or their family. The aim of the talks is to make meal planning easier with advice on quick and easy healthy recipes and tips on shopping and storage of food. This in turn will help families to cut down on the amount of food that they throw out each week which is currently costing Irish Families around €700 each year.
Sharon Cameron, Environment Awareness Officer has organised the talks and encourages the public to attend the talks which will be just over an hour in duration. “The beginning of a new year is always a good time to get organised. With our busy lives many of us struggle with getting healthy family meals prepared and as a result we tend to buy food that we never eat which ends up in the bin. Sian Breslin has a great practical way of helping families cut down on food waste by better meal planning. We are delighted to have Sian in Mayo and we encourage the public to avail of the talks”
The talks are also of interest to home economics teachers and secondary school students studying home economics.
