The Green Schools Big Travel Challenge 2015

big travel challenge 2015The Green Schools Big Travel Challenge 2015 competition is now open. The competition is open to all Green Schools that have participated or are participating in the Green Schools travel programme. Take part in The BIG TRAVEL CHALLENGE by promoting a sustainable mode of transport of your choice in the month of February. Take on the challenge of achieving a measurable increase in ONE of the following sustainable modes of travel: walking, cycling, scooting, carpooling, park n’ stride or the bus.

Schools are being asked to promote their chosen greener mode of travel for any 15 weekday period between Monday 2nd February and Friday 27th February 2015 and to record their results. A poster and entry form packs will be sent to all eligible schools. A BIG TRAVEL Challenge Tracker is available to download, to record the total number of students in your school travelling by your chosen mode on each day of the challenge.

The deadline for entry to the Big Travel Challenge is 6th March 2015.

Green Schools Committee

The Green School Committee was first set up in 2004 and we were awarded our 1st Green Flag in 2006. We are now on our 5th Green Flag which was awarded in June 2014. This years Committee are Teachers Marian Thornburgh, Anna Doherty, Mairead Monaghan, Secretary Rita Campbell and Students Ríona Foot, Antony Gleeson, Ella Gallagher, Diarmuid Monaghan, Ella Pidgeon and Alan Howie.
