After many years in Sligo the Tidy Towns unit move to Mayo.
The national Tidy Towns initiative was launched by Bord Fáilte, the Irish Tourist Board (now Fáilte Ireland) in 1958. The initiative was part of the ‘Tostal’, a nationwide festival celebrating all things Irish. The Tidy Towns unit was for many years based in the Government offices in Tubbercurry in County Sligo. The Tidy Towns unit has from Monday the 3rd of November moved to the Government offices in Ballina, here in County Mayo. Swinford Tidy Towns would like to welcome the Tidy Towns unit move to Mayo.
