Swinford national school awarded 5th Green Flag recently at a ceremony in Claremorris. They had the official raising of the Green Flag today at the national school. Each of the students on the Green Schools Committee gave a short speech on the projects and work that they have done to date to achieve their 5th Green Flag, the theme of which is Biodiversity.

The flag raising ceremony was attended by all the students of the school, present and past teachers. Also in attendance were Fr. Dermott Meahan, who congratulated and praised the Green School Committee on their achievements to date. The National school band provided the music for the ceremony. The Swinford Tidy Towns Committee were delighted to be invited to the flag raising ceremony and we look forward to continuing working with the Green School committee in the future and to help out on projects in the future.
