Hugely successful 2017 Swinford Spring Clean

We had another hugely successful 2017 Swinford Spring Clean on Good Friday last. In previous years we managed to collect between 30 and 45 bags of rubbish and recycling. This year however, the amount of rubbish to be collected was way way down on previous years, which we think is a huge success! In total 21 bags were collected, 15 rubbish and 6 for recycling. We also found one traffic cone, in 2 parts, which we will up-cycle and use in the tidy towns here in Swinford.

Huge thanks as always to all our volunteers who came out to help on the day. Without you, our participation in the National Spring Clean would not be possible. Once again thanks to Imelda and Carmel for having the tea and coffee and all the lovely sandwich’s ready for us when we finished (and some nice goodies too!).

Thanks also to the vigilance of our volunteers on the day, we located 4 different areas where there are wildflowers growing. Two varieties (primroses & dog violet) of which are on the National Biodiversity Data Centre Spring Flower Survey which we are taking part in this year. We have photographed & logged them and sent the data to the biodiversity data centre.

Swinford Tidy Towns take part in the Annual National Spring Clean campaign every year. We hold our Spring Clean on the Good Friday morning. We usually meet at 11 am on the Good Friday morning at the No Name Club on Chapel Street. If you would like to help us out anytime, we meet every Saturday morning at 11 AM all year round and during the summer months (when the time changes) every Wednesday evening at 7 PM, meet at the No Name Club on Chapel Street.
