Hugely Successful 2016 Swinford Spring Clean

We have had another hugely successful 2016 Swinford Spring Clean here today! Huge thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help. Thankfully it stayed dry but was a bit breezy! 42 bags in total for recycle and disposal. We also got 2 mattresses, 3/4’s of a kiddies bicycle, a table (without chairs!) a pair of ladies runners (brand new!??) 11 bottles of “Old Sea Dog” rum (empty) as well as all the usual rubbish and unmentionables. Thanks to Imelda and Carmel for the tea & coffee and the legendary lovely sandwich’s.

The Annual National Spring Clean campaign, Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative, has been taking place nationwide throughout the month of April. Every year more than half a million people come together in community groups to organise clean ups to improve their local community and environment. The National Spring Clean is Ireland’s largest anti-litter initiative organised by An Taisce and is funded by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.

Swinford Tidy Towns take part in the Annual National Spring Clean campaign every year. We hold our Spring Clean on the Good Friday morning. We usually meet at 11 am on the Good Friday morning at the No Name Club on Chapel Street. If you would like to help us out anytime, we meet every Saturday morning at 11 AM all year round and during the summer months (when the time changes) every Wednesday evening at 7 PM, meet at the No Name Club on Chapel Street.
