Swinford Bypass Flower Beds

Swinford Tidy Towns Committee have been busy preparing the Swinford bypass flower beds for next year. We have constructed and installed six timber flower beds under the Swinford signs on the three approach roads into Swinford, from the Swinford bypass. Hopefully they will be in full bloom, when the judge’s from the National Tidy Towns Competition arrive next May!

This time last year, Swinford Tidy Towns installed new flower beds at all the entrance signs to Swinford town along the by pass. The beds were planted with daffodil bulbs along the outer edges to give lots of colour in early spring. We also planted perennial plants and bulbs in each box to give all summer long colour.

The plants and bulbs we used in each bed were Dahila’s, Rudbeckia {Gold Strum}, Penstemon {Burgundy}, Agapanthus, Crocosmia, Astilbe arendsii {Fanal}, Scabiosa atropurpurea {Blue Moon}, Cerastium, Nonstop Begonia’s, Aubrieta, Campanula and Helianthanum.

Hopefully we don’t have any failures next year and the flower beds will be in full bloom again. Thanks to all the tidy towns volunteers for all their hard work, and a big thank you to everybody that has contributed to our Church gate collection and various fundraisers throughout the year, we are able to undertake and complete projects like this. We will be undertaking more projects like this next year. If you have any suggestions or ideas for us, or if you would like to help us out in any way, please leave a comment here, contact any committee member or use the contact form here.
