October Is National Reuse Month 2018

The month of October is designated as National Reuse Month. This is a new waste prevention initiative to raise awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of reusing everyday items and materials that would otherwise go to waste.

The Environment Office of Mayo County Council  have partnered with the Tommy Marren Show on Midwest Radio to run this competition which aims to encourage the use of Charity Shops throughout County Mayo. You could win a €200 voucher for the restaurant of your choice.

What you need to do:

Drop into your local charity shop during national reuse month this October. Purchase any item of clothing, shoes or handbags and use your imagination to give it new life! We have 2 charity shops here in Swinford, Second Thoughts on lower main st and The Hospice Shop at the square. Take a photo of the original item before you do anything, upstyle it and then take another photo when complete. Send both photos along with the receipt for the original item and sent it on to;

Sharon Cameron
Environment Awareness Officer
Mayo County Council
The Mall
Castlebar.

You can also email entries to reuse@mayococo.ie

Entries close on Monday 22nd October at 5pm. The winner will be announced on the Tommy Marren show on midwest radio on Friday the 26th October.

Good luck!
