2016 Tesco Swinford Clean Street League August Results

Swinford Clean Street league event header

The 2016 Tesco Swinford Clean Street League August Results are now in from the Adjudicators. Competition between the streets and estates is really hotting up as we go into the final moth of judging in September. In joint 1st place in the streets, we have Chapel Street battling it out with Kilkelly Road on 32 points. Hot on their tails we have a real battle for 2nd place this year. Davitt Place, Market Street, Park Road and St Ita’s Terrace are all vying for second place on 31 points each. In third place we have Main Street on 29 points.

In the estates competition we have a real battle on our hands for the top spot. There is only 1 point separating each of the top 3, and only 2 points separating 3rd place from 1st! In first place we have Brabazon Heights on 36 points with Railway Terrace hot on their heals in second with 35 points. In third place The Orchard is on 35 points.

The final round of judging will be in September. The September results and the overall winners from the streets and estates will be announced at our Tesco Swinford Clean Street League awards night to be held at the end of October in the Gatway Hotel (date tbc). There has been somewhat of an improvement with the weather but growth still seems to be behind. Some of our planters have only now begun to bloom, as have our new hanging baskets along Main St.

Overall general comments from the Adjudicators for the month of August for both the estates and streets.

  • Approach roads to be addressed, better planning of flowers.

  • Weeds need to be addressed all along footpaths.

  • Keep up good work of emptying the dog bins.

  • Tesco need to address bedding frontage.

  • Keep up good community spirit, seeing to be evident.

  • Be careful when planting flower beds/box’s, as they can become unsightly with wind damage.
